Ways of tattoo removal
Ways of removing tattoos is as old as the art of body painting itself. So what’s the difference between currently available methods and which one to choose?
Earlier methods of tattoo removal, such as chemical peeling, have certain disadvantages and do not always clear them completely. There is also a high probability of eventual scarring, atrophied areas and pigmentation disorders (hyper or hypo-pigmentation) on the treated spots. Therefore, laser tattoo removal has become the most popular way to take care of the problem.
Institute VIRTUS offers ruby laser ВеТа 2Star (Asclepion, Germany made) treatments that helps to deal with not only skin pigmented lesions but also break the inks of both professional and amateur tattoos.
The procedure of laser tattoo removal
Lasers work by selectively targeting the pigment of the tattoo ink in the skin with highly concentrated colored light beams without damaging the surrounding skin. These laser beams break up ink particles into tiny fragments which later enter the lymphatic system and are cleared from human organism by scavenging cells. The procedure is bloodless and no incisions are made. A minor disadvantage of the process is that the ink particles fragmenting require numerous sessions depending on the depth of the ink level. Amateur tattoos located in epidermis are removed in 2-4 sessions scheduled about 3-4 weeks apart. As for the professional ones it may require from 7 to 8 sessions due to their deeper placement.
During the treatment, patients feel some tingling and a minor burning sensation that is easily tolerated and quickly goes away. In rare cases there was observed a discoloration of the treated area, but will almost never happen in a properly performed procedure.
Duration of treatment is around 20 min
There is some crusting that develops after the treatment and disappears within 2- 4 days. This kind of side effect can be prevented by means of local anesthetics. The tattoo components fade gradually after each treatment and finally go away completely.
