Preparation for buttock augmentation
Preparation for buttock augmentation is simple and includes a consultation with a plastic surgeon, a general preoperative examination (clinical, biochemical blood test, ECG), a consultation with an anesthesiologist and, if necessary, an ultrasound of the soft tissues of the buttocks. For example, in case of traumatic deformities, the doctor can see the size of the deformity and the condition of the fatty tissue on an ultrasound.
Stages of buttock augmentation
Buttock augmentation operations at the VIRTUS Institute are performed regularly and all stages are technically advanced. Surgical intervention is performed under general or spinal anesthesia – this is discussed during planning, and the patient can choose the anesthesia that is more comfortable for her. Buttock augmentation includes the following stages:
- preparation for surgery;
- selection of implants that best match the patient’s anatomy (like breast implants, they can be of different sizes and shapes);
- The actual operation: the surgeon makes a small incision (four to five centimeters) in the intergluteal fold and inserts the implant into the gluteal muscles.
If we are talking about lipofilling, the duration of the operation is approximately two hours, because before placing the bioimplant, it is necessary to collect and process the fat in the laboratory.
Rehabilitation after buttock augmentation
The result of buttock augmentation is noticeable immediately after the operation, but it is necessary to wait until the initial swelling subsides (two to three weeks) and the new appearance of the buttocks is finally formed. The patient leaves the clinic on the third day, and for the next month she must wear compression underwear and avoid hot baths and saunas. The stitches will heal over the next six to seven months. Follow-up examinations by the plastic surgeon are carried out on the 7th, 14th, and 21st days after the operation.
