Cell therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)

Cell therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a condition that can be associated with both somatic disorders (e.g., iron deficiency, diabetes, thyroid disorders) and constant stress.

Cell therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a complex and multifactorial disease characterized by a prolonged state of fatigue (more than half a year) and decreased physical and mental performance.

StimuCELLNESS® is an innovative program that provides comprehensive recovery of the body in CFS through cell therapy, immunomodulation, improvement of microcirculation and neuroprotection.

During the war, most Ukrainians live in a state of chronic stress, lack of sleep, uncertainty, anxiety for loved ones, which leads to the accumulation of fatigue. Moreover, when the psycho-emotional state is disturbed for a long time, somatic diseases can also develop. It is not surprising that in the clinical practice of the therapist of the VIRTUS Institute, the number of patients with chronic fatigue has been increasing in recent years. We offer patients with CFS cell therapy under the innovative StimuCELLNESS® program, which provides comprehensive recovery of the body through the introduction of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), immunomodulation, improvement of microcirculation and neuroprotection.

What is chronic fatigue syndrome?

Scientific studies show that the causes of chronic fatigue syndrome can be an imbalance of the immune system, chronic neuroinflammation, dysregulation of stress hormones (in particular, cortisol), microcirculation and energy metabolism at the mitochondrial level. Therefore, chronic fatigue syndrome is a complex and multifactorial disease characterized by the following symptoms:

  • constant, debilitating fatigue that does not disappear after rest;
  • decreased physical and mental performance;
  • muscle pain, weakness, headaches;
  • impaired concentration, memory, thinking (“brain fog”);
  • sleep disorders, increased sensitivity to stress;
  • prone to frequent infections due to reduced immunity.

CFS is diagnosed when all these symptoms last for at least half a year. What to do with chronic fatigue, a therapist or family doctor will tell you during a consultation. If there are suspicions that chronic fatigue is caused by thyroid pathologies, immune disorders, or neurodegenerative diseases, an endocrinologist, neurologist, immunologist, or other specialists are involved in the treatment.

Indications and contraindications for cell therapy in CFS

Patients with chronic fatigue, for whom cell treatment is indicated, complain of feeling unwell every day, fatigue, weakness, cramps, muscle pain, headaches and dizziness, depression, anxiety. For the diagnosis of chronic fatigue, a fatigue assessment test (FAS-10) is used, as well as blood tests, including iron levels and thyroid hormones, rheumatoid factors, and ECG. After all, feeling unwell, weakness, drowsiness, and loss of strength can occur not only with chronic fatigue, but also with depression, autoimmune thyroiditis, and even oncological pathologies.

Benefits of Cell Therapy for Chronic Fatigue

Untreated, CFS can lead to social isolation, disability, and the development of depression and anxiety disorders. Patients lose their ability to work, and their quality of life significantly deteriorates. And a chronic inflammatory state can become the basis for the development of autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular pathologies, and metabolic syndrome. Cell therapy under the StimuCELLNESS® program helps prevent these consequences of chronic fatigue, with the following benefits:

  • systemic and comprehensive strategy for restoring the body;
  • improvement of immune function, protection of nerve cells, stimulation of the formation of new blood vessels;
  • preparation with plasmapheresis to increase efficiency;
  • individual support from a Smart Cell doctor;
  • restoration of energy, improvement of the quality of life.

Thus, the patient gets rid of chronic fatigue and poor health.

Mechanism of action of cell therapy in CFS

The StimuCELLNESS® program in CFS is based on the property of multipotent (mesenchymal) stem cells to transform into cells of other types needed by the body and multiply. The mechanism of action of cell therapy includes:

  • immunomodulation – MSCs reduce chronic inflammation, suppress excessive production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6), normalize the immune response;
  • neuroprotection – stimulation of the release of growth factors (BDNF, GDNF), which improve the condition of neurons, restore cognitive functions;
  • angiogenesis – improvement of blood supply to the brain and muscles by stimulating the formation of new vessels;
  • restoration of energy metabolism – increased mitochondrial activity, improved glucose utilization, reduced oxidative stress;
  • general strengthening of the body – increased physical endurance, improved sleep quality, mood.

Cell therapy helps eliminate the causes of severe weakness and restore the patient’s joy of life.

Results of cell therapy for chronic fatigue

The result of cell therapy for chronic fatigue is a reduction in exhaustion and restoration of energy, thanks to which a person can work more efficiently and feel better. In addition, patients note the following effects after the StimuCELLNESS® program for CFS:

  • improvement of cognitive functions: memory, attention, concentration;
  • reduction of muscle pain, weakness;
  • improvement of sleep, reduction of anxiety and irritability;
  • reduction of the frequency of infections, increased immunity.

All this leads to an overall improvement in the standard of living.

Popular questions

What to do if you feel tired after sleeping?

Fatigue after waking up can be a manifestation of both sleep apnea and one of the sleep disorders (apnea, narcolepsy, circadian rhythm disorders), or indicate a high level of stress or depression. It is worth starting by reviewing your lifestyle:

  1. Do you have regular physical activity? Even light exercise improves your well-being.
  2. What is your diet? Does your diet contain enough essential vitamins and minerals?
  3. Do you follow a water regimen and consume enough fluids?
  4. Do you go to bed at the same time and do you sleep the required seven hours?

Yoga or Pilates can help adjust your stress level. Being in the sun, having a morning coffee or physical activity can help you wake up, but if you feel tired every day despite getting enough sleep, exercising and eating normally, you should consult a therapist.

Why can there be constant fatigue and drowsiness in women?

Constant fatigue and drowsiness in women can be caused by many psychological or physiological factors:

  • stress and constant psychological tension;
  • depressive or anxiety disorder;
  • hormonal failure;
  • sleep disorders;
  • latent infections;
  • autoimmune diseases.

To diagnose the causes of constant fatigue, you should start with a consultation with a therapist and an examination (liver tests, thyroid hormone tests, etc.).

Can chronic fatigue syndrome be cured?

Chronic fatigue syndrome is treatable, but this is the area of responsibility not only of the therapist, but also of the patient himself. The doctor prescribes psychotherapeutic techniques and drugs for the treatment of chronic fatigue (for example, iron for iron deficiency anemia or thyroid hormones for autoimmune thyroiditis), and the patient already makes changes in everyday life, learns to be present in the moment and be aware of his body – in particular, to concentrate on breathing and water regime, works with a psychotherapist.

Preparation for cell therapy for chronic fatigue

Preparation for cell therapy for chronic fatigue begins with a consultation with a Smart Cell doctor and the definition of an individual program. For this, the patient undergoes a comprehensive examination: laboratory tests, assessment of the nervous system to exclude other possible causes of chronic fatigue. If indicated, patients with a weakened immune system are prescribed a course of plasmapheresis before treatment, after which MSCs are collected and prepared.

How is the procedure for cell therapy for CFS?

According to the individual program developed by a SmartCell doctor, MSCs are administered to the patient intravenously for systemic effects on inflammation, immunity, and neuroprotection. If necessary, interfascial (intramuscular) administration is also possible. In this case, dynamic monitoring of the patient’s condition is mandatory, and if necessary, a repeated course of CFS treatment is prescribed.

Recovery and observation after cell therapy for CFS

The success of CFS treatment requires cooperation between the doctor and the patient. If the doctor, for his part, identifies weaknesses and prevents the most likely somatic diseases, then giving up bad habits and making changes to everyday life is the task of the patient himself. For better recovery, the patient should maintain a balance between work, physical activity and rest. In the presence of avitaminosis, you can take vitamins for chronic fatigue, which are individually prescribed by a doctor. In case of depressive and anxiety states, you should consult a psychiatrist.
